The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel was established in 1990 and has continuously sought to abolish the use of torture in Israel. We protect any individual harmed during interrogation, demonstration, detention, incarceration etc.; we represent Israelis, Palestinians, refugees and immigrants who were subjected to torture, or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment by the hands of the Israeli authorities: the ISA [Shin Bet], Israel Police, IDF etc.

We at PCATI believe that torture and abuse of any sort – and under any circumstances – are not in line with values of morality, democracy and rule of law. The State of Israel that we envision and aspire to is free of institutional violence, a place where people whose bodies and souls were harmed find recognition and justice.
